Stress
can hinder your goal of lowering cholesterol. To remove
this somewhat controllable obstacle from your life, you can
implement some stress reduction techniques that can also reduce
cholesterol.
First
of all, don’t worry about what you can’t control. Easier
said than done, but making a conscious effort to not dwell on
or worry about that which is out of your control can immediately
reduce the stress others may put on you.
The next
step is to recognize that life is stressful. What is more stressful
however is going on year after year under tremendous pressure
and letting that slowly (or not so slowly) damage your health.
When stress is left to run amuck, it is nearly impossible to
control the damage of such conditions as high blood pressure
or to lower your cholesterol.
When you
are faced with the inevitable stressful situation, don’t let
go of your healthy habits. It is easy to turn to fast
food or forget the exercise when you have a deadline to meet
at work. Letting go of your healthy habits will make you
back track in your cholesterol lowering efforts. Exercise
will release the endorphins needed to keep you healthy under
stress. Eating properly and supplementing with antioxidants
if necessary will also help you better manage your stress and
keep lowering your cholesterol.
Make stress
management and lowering cholesterol a priority and a part of
your daily life. Take a few minutes to meditate. Do some
simple stretching in between sessions at the computer.
Take a few minutes to enjoy a cup of green tea (full of antioxidants)
and steam away the impact of a stressful house full of children.
It will not only help you get a grip on your day it will also
help lower cholesterol.
