SP-1000 New Drug to Reduce Cholesterol From Blood

Many drugs have been designed and manufactured with one goal in mind - reduce cholesterol. In order to do this, the pharmaceuticals have focused on the source of cholesterol production in the body, which is the liver. By preventing the liver from producing more cholesterol than needed, overall cholesterol could be lowered. This type of drug therapy is always administered with a good amount of education on reducing cholesterol from dietary sources as well.

A new drug, however, developed by Samaritan Pharmaceuticals, is focusing on cholesterol that is already floating around in the blood. The drug which is still in testing stages is labeled SP-1000 and seeks to cleanse this cholesterol once it has been released into the blood stream, rather than preventing it from being produced in the first place. All of the lipoproteins that make up cholesterol are in some way connected. SP-1000 in animal laboratory testing was able to remove the bad LDL cholesterol from the complete apolipoprotein complex.

Statin drugs, which are the most commonly prescribed drugs to reduce cholesterol, attack the source of LDL or bad cholesterol. This type of therapy has been extremely effective in lowering total cholesterol as well as LDL cholesterol. The problem is that some people will experience uncomfortable and even dangerous side effects from statin drugs.

To reduce cholesterol, both LDL cholesterol needs to be lowered and the good HDL cholesterol should be raised to at least 40 mg/dL. This can be achieved through drugs, but carries the risk of side effects. To lower cholesterol without medication, diet and exercise can be modified. The results can be seen in as little as two months. Find out more by getting The 60-Day Prescription Free Cholesterol Cure.
